The lithium ion secondary cell is further advantageously applicable to an a-Si solar cell because it can be fully charged by the sunlight. A negative electrode for the lithium ion secondary cell has a layer structure of an active material layer, an electrode lead layer and a separator, or a negative electrode of a foil-stacking type wherein a plurality of foils are stacked one upon another. The active material layer is generally formed of a powder obtained by applying a binder onto a conductive foil such as a copper foil and heating the mixture.
